Our Story

Thirty-five years of knowing every child by name

St Francis College campus in Benoni, Gauteng

St Francis College was established in 1989 in Benoni, born from a desire to create a safe space for children. We take our name from the Prayer of St Francis of Assisi: “Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace.” That founding spirit has guided us for over 35 years.

Our Preschool, Preparatory School and High School form one community. Siblings are close by, teachers know every learner by name, and the move between phases is seamless and well supported.

We are dedicated to providing meaningful learning for all, embracing inclusivity, upholding Christian values of peace and service, and preparing every learner to achieve their full potential.

About ThriveEd

A ThriveEd Learning Community

St Francis College is proud to be part of ThriveEd, an independent school group united by one bold purpose: delivering an education to thrive, for all.

Unlike traditional school chains, ThriveEd doesn’t replicate a single model across campuses. Each learning community is built with its own identity, vision and culture, empowering school leaders to serve their communities with creativity and care. All ThriveEd schools are united by the Thriveway framework: a rigorous, research-based approach to educational excellence that keeps every child at the centre.
